Leakage in any area can really cause all kinds of problems. That is why when installing OFCO SAE threaded tank mounted strainers through a reservoir wall, our SAE Weld Flanges (weld rings) are the perfect match. It gives an o-ring, leak proof seal to the installation. The flanges are suitable for welding to the reservoir wall. When installing your SAE tank mounted suction strainer consider the two items working together to prevent any leakage from the connection. Most sizes are available and in stock.
OFCO has the perfect fit for your suction strainer application that could make the difference between having an effective running system or a poorly running system. Our “AP” Style All Nylon Suction Strainers may be the choice for your application. For flow rates up to 3 gpm, in addition to our standard suction strainers, OFCO now has one piece, all nylon ones available in 30 mesh. They are good for use in applications such as de-ionized water, salt water, some chemicals and coolants, and more. They will not corrode and are very economical.
Wire cloth manufacturers worldwide refer to “mesh” when selling and weaving wire cloth. Filter companies like to talk in terms of “micron.” Over the years, both have mixed fairly well. Yea, right! Like water and oil! Not understanding the difference can, in applications, cause problems. HELP! To start with, become knowledgeable with both terms. CLICK HERE to see this comparison chart on the OFCO website and print a copy of the Mesh – Micron chart for your reference. ‘Mesh’ is a unit of measure equal to the number of openings per linear inch in a piece of wire cloth. This means that if you have 30 openings in one inch of a piece of wire cloth, that is 30 mesh. Well, 30 mesh is equal to 595 microns. So, you see how not giving the customer what they need could end up causing a catastrophic occurrence. ‘Micron’ is a unit of measure equal to one-millionth of a meter. Big difference. It is very important to distinguish between the two terms when making a determination of a specific level of filtration. Proper filtration is one of the most important areas when it comes to a smooth operating system. A good rule of thumb to follow is if you are not sure, ask. That’s what we’re here for. There will be more about this in the next newsletter.
